If vaccinated individuals can contract and transmit Covid, what's the point in vaccinating young people? I understand 40≥, but is there a point of vaccinating young adults and children? Is the individual benefit greater than the risk? Is there a communal benefit?

Vaccinated = less likely to catch COVID. Vaccinated = less likely to spread COVID even if you do catch it. Vaccinated = less likely to be seriously ill (less burden on hospitals) or die even if you do catch COVID.

My mum will never be able to travel or socialise indoors with new friends/strangers for the rest of her life now. My entire family is vaccinated but my mum has a serious condition. It breaks my heart that she’s basically stuck because of the selfishness of others.

I'd suggest paying attention to masking in vaccinated with Delta around. I've heard of a lot of spread from vaccinated to vaccinated with Delta. The vaccine protects from severe illness, but spread seems to be very possible.
