When Greg Hunt frequently tell us about "30,000 lives saved." Does that factor in lives lost due to suicide, medical tests and operations not done due to covid etc etc etc? We should strive for accuracy especially when using numbers.

Specific to Australia, evidence from Victoria, NSW, and QLD shows no increase in suicide figures since the start of the pandemic

Medical appointments missed is much harder to assess, however. Missing routine appointments happens during large outbreaks of COVID-19 (due to reduced capacity), and during lockdowns. Very challenging question, as we wrote in the paper
