This is not unexpected. If the authors of the retracted ivermectin study claim that the data was not really the data for their paper, they now need to explain: 1. Why did they upload fake data that quite clearly matched their results?https://twitter.com/PierreKory/status/1416080575442587653 …

IMO: 1) scientific fraud happens and 2) disinformation attacks on scientists with data that runs counter to corporate entities also happens. From Prof. ElGazzar: "This story is fake and is not the actual raw data of my study and I will defend my work" (1/2) https://twitter.com/Covid19Crusher/status/1416024172367593472 …

      2. The plagiarism. Lengthy, extensive plagiarism 3. The implausible/impossible values remaining in the text 4. The incorrect and bizarre statistical tests 5. Why it is only NOW that we're told the data us fake. Was it a joke? A prank???

      5. (cont.) Seriously, how do the authors explain the fact that they uploaded a dataset, said it was the data of their study, and now claim it wasn't? How do we reconcile that with what they claim now?

Shameless people continue to be shameless even after they’re caught. Often works for their audience too.

I'm sure dr kory has acted in good faith. It's the nerds attitude that I find odd. "I don't care if it's a lifesaver, we're not using it"

Yes indeed. It would be amazing if ivermectin worked, even more amazing if ivermectin was 90% effective at preventing mortality because then the pandemic would be over. I would be so happy if it were true 🥲

Covid arguments remind me of climate arguments sped up x1000. ivermectin reminds me of “it’s the Sun,” with a certain group always demanding more study even though there’s no real evidence (or expectation) that it can be responsible for the past 50 years of climate change.

IVM @ 90% effective is not enough to end pandemic. Also must convince majority of the world that it is 90% eff. & then you need everyone to use it. That will never happen since so many people are lined up against it. Guardian even ties IVM to “right wing figures” in 1st sentence.
