Oh ffs, a curfew has no impact as a public health measure. It’s a policing measure and it negatively effects ppl’s wellbeinghttps://twitter.com/BurnetInstitute/status/1414554874516107266 …

If anything I think it would actually cause more harm than benefit, given how police interactions with minorities tend to go in the world…

Always a problem, true

That is not necessarily to say that such increased measures will not have any impact on spread, but I think people calling for them rarely base such calls on evidence which does not provide strong support for such a position
-
But have you considered that a curfew may crush the spirits of the population so deeply that they will never leave their home again? It would be reckless NOT to test this theory

So you are suggesting the "one person per household per day and only for essentials" (aka Friday's changes) will have little effect? Because it looks we are in trouble if that is the case.
-
we don't have declared essential and non-essential shops - until non essential shops are shut, we are not actually locked down. Almost everything that is supposed to be "in place" are requests. The public health orders are actually not very strong

Stay at home can only do so much. It doesn't affect the essential workforce. You have to tackle why the outbreak is happening and fix the structural issues.
-
Also true, and hopefully NSW Health has been talking to Vic Health about what went wrong in Vic and how NSW can protect itself from those weak points. That would be faster than having to work it all out ourselves from scratch.

If you're staying-at-home you are already on a stringent curfew.

Let's see who gets out first, NSW or Vic.
