Please read this thread *and* the replies, which are further evidence for the point I’m making. If we’re not careful, the culture wars will reach Singularity and Emperor Outrage shall be summoned up to consume us all.https://twitter.com/AlanLevinovitz/status/1413449623650201604 …

So…last night I did a Twitter Spaces about sex differences that turned to a discussion of trans athletes. For all the stereotypes of these discussions being hijacked by illiberal progressives, the room was dominated by militant and frequently incoherent anti-trans arguments.

I think my take is you can’t have the discussion (or it won’t be fruitful) if you are discussing with someone who doesn’t believe in trans rights to exist.

Yep. Part of the problem is that the argument includes some proportion of reasonable worry as well as quite a few overt transphobes

I don't have much connection to the ethical or moral arguments about trans athletes, but when I point out that much of the SCIENTIFIC basis for the rulings is essentially pseudoscience, people usually respond with epithets and transphobic rhetoric

science like what, that middling males outperform elite females across the gamut of objective measures of physical prowess? Because that’s what the science says.
