Has anyone ever gotten a rejection because they did not meet the 48 hours deadline, especially over weekends?

Makes no sense all this rush.

Research in universities pay for the papers three times: writers are paid by universities, peer reviewers are paid by universities, and journal subscriptions are also paid by universities. And you may feel lucky if the journal does not charge you for submission (1/2).

Add in top of that the publish or perish culture, which is the worst thing of them all. I have seen biomarkers that are left behind once the paper gets published and you move on to the next "big" thing. If it was important in the first place, why do you let it down now? (2/2).
