There's also almost certainly a socio-economic component, pretty much everywhere richer people are more able to access vaccines unfortunately

In late 2020, I saw a presentation of 1930s Redlining Maps (where you couldn't get a mortgage because a neighborhood was majority Black) and a map of COVID deaths per capita. Another presentation showed 2018 per capita Sepsis deaths and COVID deaths. VERY high correlation both!

Crowded housing, jobs that cannot be done from home, less access to medical care, public transit instead of private cars, higher levels of chronic diseases, jobs with limited schedule flexibility, etc., etc.
