Fighting obesity => fighting covid. Sounds a bit simplistic. Those studies found a correlation, but did not establish a causation. There could easily be confounders of such general a condition as obesity

This isn't even about obesity. A BMI of 23 is below the upper range of "normal". The percentage of people who are at or below 23 is probably reasonably small and likely skewed towards being younger anyway.
