I hope this tweet helps more people getting vaccinated. The problem started when politics & the media gave them names like apples & oranges & told the public which tasted better & had more vitamins. Which one clotted & which one didnt. Thats the problem.Just call them vaccines.

Yes, as a reminder of ATAGI comments - a preference for the Pfizer 💉 over the AZ 💉 in <60s: "ATAGI advises that Comirnaty is preferred over COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca from the age of 16 to under 60 years." But then importantly 1/

"COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca can be used in adults aged under 60 years for whom Comirnaty is not available, the benefits are likely to outweigh the risks for that individual and the person has made an informed decision based on an understanding of the risks and benefits" 2/

In Germany, we have successfully used Vaxzevria as first dose and mRNA as second dose (for under-60s with official recommendation after Vaxzevria first dose). Studies show that this combination has the best immunogenicity. This would allow efficient use of all vaccines.

But the risk of TTS is with the first dose not the second dose of Vaxzevria (AZ). So it doesn't solve that problem.
