Nope. No paid sick leave. No universal healthcare. No income replacement. Nothing

No paid sick leave, no paid maternity leave, and even getting UNPAID paternity leave can be tricky.

This kind of thing is extremely variable and is largely tied to the deal you get with your employer. Some are more generous than others - but even a generous employer in the US provides way less than the average employee gets as a matter of course in Australia.

You can apply for 16 weeks unpaid leave where the only requirement on your employer is that they can’t fire you for taking leave.. pathetic

The only reason I have paid sick leave is because of a city ordinance.

Lucky to live in Connecticut, where we've had unpaid leave with job protection for a while, and are rolling out paid leave. Recent reform (still) allows employers to require use of Personal Time Off before taking medical/family leave, but bars them from requiring using all of it.

some individual cities require it for residents who live/work there but that's it. otherwise it's employer based which is becoming increasingly rare.

It's odd because there is federal funding for it but no mandate. I guess industry doesn't want it even when they don't have to pay for it.
