Ivermectin for COVID-19 has been in the news again recently, so I wrote about the evidence and why we're still unsure if it has any benefit at allhttps://gidmk.medium.com/does-ivermectin-work-for-covid-19-1166126c364a …

Do these studies change your opinion at all? https://osf.io/9egh4/ https://osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/r93g4/ …

Not really - this is what I'd call evidence at a very high risk of bias. It doesn't really shift the needle, because there are so many explanations for those findings other than ivermectin having a benefit

What kind of observational or semi-experimental studies would shift the needle in your opinion? We only have observational data on parachutes: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC300808/ … (this clearly is not the same as parachutes, but I'm interested to hear you articulate why)

At this point, we are far beyond observational evidence. While 3 decent RCTs isn't conclusive evidence, it's still quite suggestive of a null benefit. To really shift the needle we need a large, well-conducted RCT rather than more of the same weak obs evidence
