The vast outrage over the "unfairness" of a transgender athlete competing at the Olympics makes very little sense when you consider that; a) she is ranked 4th b) she is the first trans athlete to compete at the Olympics EVER

"But she has a biologically male body!" Try defining a "male" body in a way that doesn't exclude a large proportion of elite female athletes. The IOC has been trying to do this for decades and it's VERY HARD

The fact is that most elite athletes have biological advantages (how many 5'2" people play basketball professionally?). It's up to us to decide what is "unfair"

Sadly, the default assumption many people have is that men are always better than women at sports, that transgender people are lying in some way, and thus it is "unfair" to allow them to compete

Why not just redefine categories to 1) Open division. Meaning anyone can enter this division. 2) Female at birth division. Everyone wins.

Here's a thread on just some of the males who have gone on to win women's sports events - including how they performed in the men's category before they started identifying as women

        A) there have been 3 male Olympic weightlifters over the age of 32 in the 21st century. Hubbard is 43. B) at 20 Hubbard had a total lift of 300 kg, beating the current female record by 54 kg “Outrage” is a strawman from Twitter trolls. Majority realize there’s something wrong

It is always easy to diminish the impact an action has when it doesn't impact you. The women who have competed against her think it is very unfair.
