I am pretty good at statistics and I can confirm that it is blatantly obvious that the furore over transgender athletes has nothing to do with how often they win eventshttps://twitter.com/JordanRasko/status/1407265441953632258 …

Apologies, this is incorrect. Technically, the risk of a meteor hitting the decathlon is higher

I would estimate the chances of Laurel Hubbard winning gold in the weightlifting is way higher than the chances of a meteor strike (based on personal bests and records) and I don't automatically dismiss the claims of the other athletes that her participation is totally fair.

What’s the sample size? How many such athletes have competed in the Olympics so far?

The 'furore' isn't just alarmism about the frequency going up or down though. Each time it happens, there's obvious questions about the fairness around it, which is what's happening now. There's nothing illogical about that as far as I can see.

Even if it happens 3 times in all of history, the same questions, opinions, indignations (either way) etc apply to each of those times. I don't have a position but can't say I'm getting this take. I don't think it's a non-issue or just 'hateful nonsense'.

Pretty sure the statistical likelihood of a 43-year-old female qualifying for the Olympics in weightlifting is also vanishingly small. I wonder how Hubbard managed it…
