I think I agree - the theory that there is a lab leak has essentially become a conspiracy, even if the question was originally a valid one

The question is valid, but, based on the events of the past year and the evidence at hand, there's literally no way the lab leak hypothesis could possibly be true without a conspiracy to cover it up.

That's not untrue, although you could argue that the Chinese govt has shown little interest in investigating the possibility as well

Interesting that they haven't put massive resources into finding the source like they did with SARS-1. Might lead one to think they already know where it came from.

That's not really true, they've put quite a lot of resource into it already. Perhaps more importantly, the world is making it very clear that China can be convicted without any real evidence so why would they put more effort into it anyway?

Why would they care? I'd guess caving to pressure from the US would be far less popular locally than continuing to do what they're doing now
