The question is valid, but, based on the events of the past year and the evidence at hand, there's literally no way the lab leak hypothesis could possibly be true without a conspiracy to cover it up.

That's true. But we're talking about a government that would be quite likely to engage in a conspiracy to cover up even if a lab leak *had not happened*.

The issue seems to be that it has always been a valid question and valid hypothesis, but mentioning that was met with ridicule and scorn, meaning it has become a conspiracy theory, even though it is very much still valid.
