One has a Harbour and beaches, the other one has dirty alleys and a brown river. Other than that they are practically identical.

My take as an immigrant is more this: Melbourne: Melbourne is amazing. Did you know how amazing it is? It’s way, way better than Sydney. Sydney, look at us! Do you see how amazing we are? SYDNEY!? Sydney: ...sorry, what did you say? Oh yeah. Melbourne’s cool, sure. Cold though.

Kiwi in Sydney. That's my experience too! I liken living in Sydney to being GenX (which I also am). Melbournians are like millennials who won't stop trying to tell us they're awesome. My response is to shrug & say "whatev".
