The features that have made it such a "successful" pandemic would be impossible to develop in an animal model. Things like pre-symptomatic spread, and highly variable symptom severity. If it's from a lab they got implausibly (un)lucky.

I'm abstaining from having an opinion on something I'm not qualified in, but I found this interesting (article in next tweet). In short Wade says maybe, & thinks lab leak was highly plausible, but again is awaiting conclusive evidence.https://edition.cnn.com/videos/tv/2021/05/29/did-people-or-nature-open-pandoras-box-at-wuhan.cnn …

Consider: People have been looking since day 1 to find evidence that COVID is lab-grown. They have come up with very, very little, despite looking very, very hard. This is confirmation bias run rampant, and even then the evidence is *still* thin.

@GidMK you make an excellent point I never hear: :...the idea that the virus “leaked” from a lab does not ...mean that it was man-made — it's...possible researchers studying existing coronaviruses that were natural in origin accidentally let the virus slip out..." -
Only they have already admitted they were studying this exact virus in the Wuhan virology lab

Besides: 1) 4 + charged AAs in a row, and, 2) "unusual" furin cleavage sites what other molecular "OMG must-be-man-made!" molecular signatures are these people citing? Thanks

You mean the lab that’s 2 miles away from the original wet market? Do you mean the lab that was studying this exact virus funded by all the superpower countries ?Seems pretty probable
-
My take away is that although it's a possible theory, there is no hard conclusive evidence.
