The entire thing started with a few semi-authoritative voices who said things that were obviously wrong, which was picked up and spread widely despite everyone who could do basic maths pointing out it was clearly nonsense

It was truly amazing to watch people go on TV and say things that could be disproven with the complex statistical tool called "long division"

Strangely, that's a myth I haven't heard about here in Brazil - otherwise, a fertile ground for all kinds of conspiracy theories and BS.

Do they only believe in false positives? Not in false negatives?
-
Whatever is false to believe in, they'll believe it. False negatives came up here and there to discredit the mass use of rapid testing.

Here in Frankfurt, they have increased testing. You now need a negative Covid test within 24 hours to go to the hairdresser, a restaurant or the gym. I personally have had 4 tests within the last week. The case numbers keep dropping.
-
That seems like a sensible approach. I test twice a week for work (teacher) but shuffled my testing schedule by a half day last week so I could test before a dentist appointment. I think it's a responsible thing to do.

Staggering how many can't process the fact that a false positive rate cannot be more than an established total positive rate. It was obvious here since last summer, before world renowned mathematicians like
@JuliaHB1 and@toadmeister started popularising an alternative theory.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
