I don't buy it. A key part of getting my PhD (and having a research career) was learning to realise an approach wasn't working and to let it go and move on.

Now I see people saying without irony elimination was always 'wrong' because countries like Aus will find it hard to open up borders. No acknowledgement that situation is brought about only because so many other countries *didn't* go for elimination, not because Aus *did*.

Yes as a resident of Australia this always gets me; when people who thought all along we should have adopted the "mass death" strategy now pretend to be concerned that we might be at risk of mass death at some point in the future.
