This is why vaccines are so important. Even for children, for whom the risk of COVID-19 is likely to be much higher than the risk of vaccineshttps://twitter.com/florian_krammer/status/1391021408789073923 …

I think there is an important point that many people are missing: While we are getting this virus under control, it is unlikely that it completely disappears. That means, everybody who is susceptible will get infected at some point in time. Unless you are vaccinated.

Did everyone get infected with smallpox? How did it work then? What conditions should be met for the current pandemic to wither away? Does absolutely everyone need to get vaccinated? How soon?https://twitter.com/RachelAlter007/status/1391082034681073665 …

Today is the 41st anniversary of the official eradication of smallpox. So thankful for scientists, epidemiologists, doctors, and whoever else was involved in leading the most successful eradication effort ever. Let's do it again. #ThisIsOurShot pic.twitter.com/RWkzC026le

I am seeing a lot of people paint this picture that if you are vaccinated, sars-cov-2 becomes this distant problem only lurking to pounce on the unvaccinated. I am vaccinated. I believe in vaccination. I want to believe that sar-cov-2 becomes a contained disease like measles

Or become a threat lesser or equal to seasonal influenza. But, though anecdotal, I am seeing more accounts of breakthrough than one would desire. Though statistically small, it’s disheartening that they are happening and some infections even in vaccinated young health are serious

Pretty much sums up my opinion on why we'd want EUA for mRNA vaccines for children. Is there any theoretical risk in 12-16 age range that we haven't seen in millions of 16+ young adults? If so, would we even see it in a clinical trial? I have not found answers to these questions.
