This is such a disappointing piece. There is no public evidence for any of the Minister's claims, yet by publishing them, they now take on their own life as 'facts'. This is pure spin that is hurting disabled people.https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/may/06/costs-are-going-up-linda-reynolds-warns-of-hard-discussions-on-ndis-funding …

What? What happened to 'we will always fully fund the NDIS' of previous budgets? "Linda Reynolds has signalled the Morrison government will top up funding for the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Tuesday’s budget"https://www.freedom2live.com.au/government-confirms-ndis-funding-commitment/ …

What? Where's the evidence for this? Or does the Minister just say this with no challenge? Where is the data? "the scheme because it was “now on the trajectory of being more expensive than Medicare”."

So, in the most recent budget papers Medicare cost $36.5 billion and NDIS' full cost (incl state contributions) was $23.4 billion. Quite a long way to go there!pic.twitter.com/XkqOLt5Hpi

Thanks heaps for looking that up! It's quite a claim to make, with no actual evidence about it.

It's vague enough that you could argue it's true - if the NDIS total spending keeps increasing at this rate and so does MBS, because NDIS is going up slightly faster if you extrapolate out to the 50-year mark maybe they'll converge

Yes it’s the longer term estimates. @ozprodcom in 2017 estimated NDIS would cost $40 billion a year by 2029-30 and just keep growing from there. I don’t know what the Medicare long term cost estimates are though.pic.twitter.com/ohm6rRgDfp
