except i know what that means, and Ivor certainly doesn't mean that.

Yes well done no need to delete the tweet , my question was genuine planning a thread and I want to be told if my thinking is wrong. I found references to autoimmune conditions being viral triggered ... but context is wrong for Ivor’s phrasing

Immune triggering, disease triggering, response triggering are all phrases we would use when describing aspects of viral pathogenesis. But I think Ivor just uses words he thinks sound scientific to convince his fairly dim acolytes that he has some expertise.

Hi all - Ivor goaded by media has now specified what he thinks he means by viral triggering - it’s not sudden surges - he thinks influenza in the body is dormant and reactivates every seasonpic.twitter.com/cUu9nySsIp

Dormant but awakes as a new strain every season? This theory was "new" in 1979 & Ivor's fighting to defend its loss from mainstream science? If he's so confused by flu it's no wonder he can't get his head round Covid. #WrongAgainIvor #WrongerThanEverIvor #WrongestYetIvor

As a matter of fact, IF an Influenza virus were to be latent and then "trigger" based on a solar flare or whatever, it would be amazing because it would make it really hard to explain the different strain every year...

My favourite, though, is that it is *clarified* as a hypothesis in this piece, it's not a theory, and it's also *stated*, in the reference Ivor provided *to The Journal* that there is *no evidence* for latency https://twitter.com/WrongAgainIvor/status/1389326105409212422 …pic.twitter.com/35rMW6h9Pn

The book actually seems to make very clear that these are hypotheses that are likely to be superseded by new evidencepic.twitter.com/cXzROcifIK

Ivor is quite entertaining. I'm feeling quite bereft since he blocked me 🙃 If he wasn't responsible for leading SO many people into harm's way I would find him just amusing. (Do check out his Fantasy Flood Map sometime though)

My guess is that old gish-gallop reads the abstract, seems vaguely relevant, chucks the reference in. Beef up the citations, give the work the appearance of credibility to those who won’t check ir.
