Hi all - Ivor goaded by media has now specified what he thinks he means by viral triggering - it’s not sudden surges - he thinks influenza in the body is dormant and reactivates every season pic.twitter.com/cUu9nySsIp

So the passage appears to be from this 1992 book, which basically proposes a series of theories as to why influenza has persisted as a human infection for so long Not exactly up-to-date virology...pic.twitter.com/En9tDEyYVT

In fact, directly after the bit that Ivor quotes from the book, the author says that these theories are likely to be superseded...pic.twitter.com/GEaAkECw1j

Wrong Again, Ivor! Retweeted Wrong Again, Ivor!

Ivor's been misrepresenting that book since the beginning of the pandemic. There's a chart with % distribution of cases Ivor likes to "superimpose" deaths per million over to show that seasonality is a thing. This was done as early as June '20.https://twitter.com/WrongAgainIvor/status/1384070583118303237 …

          Wrong Again, Ivor! @WrongAgainIvor
#WrongAgainIvor put out a Tweet before claiming that his idea of seasonality isn't simply summer/winter (except in Europe, etc), but it doesn't matter because he botched HS' chart of % dist. of cases and superimposed a shape. All kinds of wrong. https://twitter.com/WrongAgainIvor/status/1384067116819615758 … pic.twitter.com/BXulTGqJMa
