Remember that "study from Stanford that shows that masks are useless against #COVID19" that Great Barrington folks and supporters love to cite?? Well it's going to be retracted! Among the issues, the author was actually not affiliated with Stanford. https://retractionwatch.com/2021/04/26/elsevier-journal-to-retract-widely-debunked-masks-study-whose-author-claimed-a-stanford-affiliation/ … Oopspic.twitter.com/97JQPmHvkm

I don’t understand your “amongst the issues” because the article’s only criticism is lies about institutional affiliation, not substance What the substantive disagreement?

I prefer to listen to real scientists when it comes to science. Do you hire an electrician when you need wiring done, or a kindergarten teacher who has really strong ideas about electricity?

I'm not interested in administrative questions of institutional affiliation, personally speaking I'm trying to find/understand where's the substantive criticism of that paper is. It's implied by "Among the issues"... that's what interests me

Misquotes, perhaps. That might be a major issue. What's up? You think you might get zits?

Lonni linked what I was looking for, thanks https://twitter.com/lonnibesancon/status/1389072384582324236?s=20 … here's what I think of the substance of the disagreement https://twitter.com/raphaels7/status/1389096879351291905?s=20 … I haven't had zits since my teens thankfully :)

      1) Peer-review should catch both (supposed) mistakes, especially Table 1 2) 99.99% of papers *never* get retracted for such things 3) clearly this retraction is motivated by a vengeful Stanford & minions enforcing authoritarian public health policies https://twitter.com/raphaels7/status/1389096119804772353 …

There are many awful papers that should obviously be retracted, this one included. That being said, the only reason any paper gets retracted is because of bad press
