Thank you! That is very very clarifying. But I have a question: What is the infection hospitalization rate by age? Is there any research on that? Thanks again!

This! At this moment far more dangerous is the hospitalization rate than fatality, because on COVID fatalities we are not seeing ppl with long Covid, respiratory issues post discharge or those who dies of another illness because they got no appropriate medical support.

"There is no question that you are less likely to die from COVID-19 if you catch the disease now than if you caught it in April 2020." While this might be true in a lot of countries, probably not in India. A reminder that fatality rate is not solely a function of the disease.

Nice! I think it maybe it wouldve been good to also mention that newer variants could lift up the IFR again just like B117 does according to some studys. I know the evidence is not 100% clear but especially for countries with high proportions of B117 it would be good to know.

This is really helpful work. Filing this away to share for future conversations on the topic. The IFR by age charts are super striking, and compelling.

It'd be interesting to have a piece about how IFR changes as we take into account deaths caused by chronic COVID damage. This study recorded a 60% increased death rate for non-hospitalized COVID patients in 6 months.https://tinyurl.com/yh4984jf

This is a great article. Thanks! The logarithmic dependency of Covid-19 infection fatality rate (IFR) on age is impressive. Just guessed the number from the graph: 10 times more likely to die from Covid-19 for ~15 years age difference?
