Do you think it is fair to add "(of Indians)"? I read what he is saying as that the vast majority *of those infected* have recovered and not that the vast majority have been infected. He says (+50% elsewhere) Likewise fair to state "unnecessary vaccination" out of context?pic.twitter.com/4LexAdwmvA

It's literally in the sentence beforehand. The meaning of the full sentence is precisely equivalent (I.e. 1 out of 1.3 billion Indians have been infected and recovered). And I don't think it is out of context at all, no

As I read it they say more than 50% *may* have been infected. That's +650k not 1bil The other sero study mentioned (which suggests 70%) they reference as corroborating evidence for the +50%. This is somewhat semantic but care is reqd if you want to label people as charlatans.

The piece makes the explicit claim that 1 billion Indians have been infected. Moreover, charlatan is your word, not mine

They very clearly state the below (+50%) before referencing a study that suggested greater (70%). I read them as using the 70% study to corroborate their +50% position not to emphatically state the 70% position.pic.twitter.com/ot4OTgELXo

That is untrue. They say that MORE than 50% are infected, referencing "mathematical models" (with no actual reference), and then reference, quote, and themselves repeat the claim that "nearly a billion" have been infected

It would be like if I said I've wasted more than 30 minutes with this argument. In fact, I've wasted nearly an hour, maybe even more! And then someone comes along and says I only ever said 30 minutes and it's unfair to imply anything else
