Do you think it is fair to add "(of Indians)"? I read what he is saying as that the vast majority *of those infected* have recovered and not that the vast majority have been infected. He says (+50% elsewhere) Likewise fair to state "unnecessary vaccination" out of context?pic.twitter.com/4LexAdwmvA

It's literally in the sentence beforehand. The meaning of the full sentence is precisely equivalent (I.e. 1 out of 1.3 billion Indians have been infected and recovered). And I don't think it is out of context at all, no

As I read it they say more than 50% *may* have been infected. That's +650k not 1bil The other sero study mentioned (which suggests 70%) they reference as corroborating evidence for the +50%. This is somewhat semantic but care is reqd if you want to label people as charlatans.

The piece makes the explicit claim that 1 billion Indians have been infected. Moreover, charlatan is your word, not mine

Fair enough. I stand corrected. Apologies - the word is @bealelab 's, not yours. But I still think your choice of quotes, and presentation of same, is unfair to the authors and to the content of the article.

You said "and warned against the dangers of "unnecessary vaccination"" Out of context I'm sure many will read that as "vaccination is dangerous + unnecessary" Whereas what they're saying is, with limited vaccines, it is better to utilize the vaccines on those with no immunity.

They literally - literally - say that unnecessary vaccination is dangerous. Are you serious or is this some bizarre prank?
