We know that HQ is very good, because from a denominator of 1,000s of infections in HQ there are few outbreaks, but even if we reduce the risk by another order of magnitude it will still exist

By all means we should reduce risks where possible, but ultimately without everyone being protected through vaccination the policy outcome is pretty much the same

Yup. Risk is never zero. However, it can be minimized with effective ventilation/filtration, good fitting masks, good hygiene. We need all measures to keep things under control

In a way, but how many transmission events have happened in travellers in Howard Springs? While hotel quarantine risk may not be zero elsewhere, it’s actually achievable. Comes down to cost benefit including downstream community risk which is thankfully reducing due to vaccines.

With unvaccinated family members currently in quarantine in NT I’m feeling significantly more confident in their presence there than I would be in other facilities. We can’t ignore the obligation we have to protecting those in quarantine.

One thing that hasn't been addressed in the debate is that we are already seeing the effects of HQ workers being vaccinated. Previously these kinds of leaks (in Sydney & Perth) would have been associated with workers testing positive, but we haven't seen this here.
