Ironically, that stand is not against misinformation, but against someone claiming they were from Stanford when they actually weren'thttps://twitter.com/stephaniemlee/status/1385084237548716035 …

Good point. It is easier to say "He doesn't even go here!" than to repudiate the anti-maskers and COVID minimizers in your midst.

How is this either ironic or not repudiating misinformation?

Health Nerd Retweeted Prof. Gavin Yamey MD MPH

Ironic because you would expect them to refute the misinformation, but the statement is mostly just saying that the guy doesn't work at Stanford. Also they continue to have many faculty members publicly saying that masks don't work i.e.https://twitter.com/GYamey/status/1385049837742272516?s=20 …

Unfortunately, Jay Bhattacharya, director of Stanford's Program on Medical Outcomes, is saying masks don't work against SARS-CoV-2. He says: "I think masks, in fact, in some ways they’ve been harmful" (https://bit.ly/3v1KIOe ). He is wrong. @StanfordMed, does he speak for you? https://twitter.com/StanfordMed/status/1384957123864444930 …

And what about one of their scholars who is not only an anti-masker but someone who isn’t above personally attacking other academics?! Where were Stanford then?!

From what I understand that hypothesis paper is really weak and baseless - but with regards to other incidents I liked Vinay Prasads take on the overuse of the term 'misinformation' - that what you're trying to say is that you disagree but your keyboard is broken.

Does stanford still require masks in its hospitals and other medical facilities? if they don’t work, why require them? Would anyone go to a hospital or clinic where doctors and patients weren’t wearing masks? How did HCW covid cases change when they required them?
