You do know that the WHO stated that a positive test is not required to be classified as Covid-19 related death, and that it should be counted independently of preexisting conditions that are suspected of triggering a severe course of COVID-19 ? You seem to underestimate that.

I do not know for america, but in France, a third of covid death do not have a biological confirmation. Also, at least 65% of death certificats had a mention of comorbidities (hard to estimate the weight of those since severity is linked to NCDs). I found 95% on my patients.

The CDC has done a fairly lengthy examination of this. I have not looked at the French data. As to comorbidities - yes, most deaths have comorbidities, I'm not sure what your point is

I responded to that in one of your tweets few days ago. I disagree. CDC examined the data they had. Name, age, sex, gender, positive test ? some NCDs ? That's not enough to perform a solid evaluation of the data quality.

As for comorbidities, for example, someone had a terminal cancer, was infected, positif test, died. Did he died because of covid ? Did the covid accelerated the outcome or did it had no impact ? You can not tell, and the WHO guides you to put covid as underlying cause.

These are certainly issues with all death recording, yes. Does anyone really die of cancer, or does it just accelerate decline? You can say the same thing about any disease, because it's a very complex thing to record
