The CDC (with bolstered funds) should have launched a large scale, household seroprevalence survey once this pandemic began, on an ongoing basis and large enough to produce both nationally-representative and state-representative estimates of past infection.

They have been doing that multi-state prevalence study but it’s not household, and not truly representative. OTOH I think they saw dropping prevalence in some places because of waning antibody levels, so not sure how useful it will be long-term

There are some reductions in prevalence but imo it's impossible to know if this is due to waning immunity or survey design itself, because the sampling methodology isn't sufficiently robust to make that conclusion
