(Yes, this is also due to the lockdown and other measures, and yes the UK hasn't ~quite~ hit the threshold to completely eliminate the risk of COVID-19 through vaccination, but still...amazing achievement)

to be fair - the speed of the decline is also due to how widespread the historical infections were

And due to heterogeneity mostly at this point if you are objective. Pretty obvious. Hard to believe that South Dakota is now at 1 death per day (hurray for ZeroCovid except they didn’t do anything). It’s time start acknowledging heterogeneity as the major factor causing ⬇️ cases

Watching all of the unmasked demonstrations from last week, cases should have massively turned but they didn’t and won’t. Why? B/c NPIs simply aren’t the major factor. It’s why BLM protests didn’t cause a problem either last year. We need to start all being more objective.

Not sure how much the lockdown measures helped. At least here in Israel our last lockdown didn't seem to be very helpful until vaccination numbers got high enough and once the lockdown released the numbers kept going down b/c of the vaccine.

I think the cases decline in GB, Israel and Portugal does not correlate to the vaccination numbers! Probably is the hard lock-down more effective to stop the spread.pic.twitter.com/j79lG3BVSf

We decided in Rhode Island to vaccinate the willing and let the kids catch the virus. 1/4 of population fully vaccinated. Kids now going up... I wish we did something here. B117 now dominate here. First health director said by end of month, 5 days later he said it now is.🤦🏽‍♂️pic.twitter.com/wxcDJU1ApT
