Imagine if scientists had spent the last 12 months discussing actual problems instead of having to combat total bullshit for most of the pandemic instead

We could've spent these endless hours talking frankly about the serious cost-benefit of government interventions against COVID-19, rather than the ongoing fight against the idea that it's a fake disease 🙄

whuts with this? All the questionable doctor/profs that employed at Stanford -- Ioannidis, Bhattacharya, Trump's Scott Atlas. Another Prasad is at USF. Martin Kulldorff of Harvard advising the UK badly.

I totally agree. But---as a scientist myself---science has made some serious, major missteps during all of this that didn't help you at all.

I vaguely remember epidemiologists spending a lot of time arguing BLM protests were more important than Covid-19 interventions...

The anti-science, pro mumbo jumbo tolerance is technical debt that we've been carrying around for decades. It's been sabotaging climate change action and now COVID response. I really think this is a fight we need to have, even if it seems sisyphean at the time.

Until they have guys who'll be like "hey homies! If you vote me I'll write the idiocy you came up with to comfort yourself into law", that's gonna be pretty hard.
