My personal opinion is that for international travel, vaccine passports are here to stay. I strongly suspect the passports for general everyday stuff will be gone by the end of the year

It makes sense to limit who can go to a theatre when you've got a massive ongoing epidemic and fully vaccinated people are (mostly) safe. But once 90%+ of the population is vaccinated, it's a different story

Same with “we can’t force college students to get vaccinated!” This is not new!

When I started graduate school I was required to show vaccination or immunity to MMR. I had been (and had mumps & rubella, too, 60 years ago) but my vaccination records were misplaced at the time. They offered a blood test to show immunity as an alternative, which I passed.

I mean it's still creating a system by which folks from say, the African continent will be barred from travel which seems...pretty bad? Same with undocumented people here in the US from participating in society.

Huge ethical concerns, absolutely. I think navigating the specifics is going to take some time, because it's not a simple topic by any means

I remember when animals weren't allowed into the UK without 2 weeks quarantine due to rabies etc. Now pets that have been vaccinated or have passports can. The same UK'ers who are protesting about their rights would be the first to demand COVID passports for incoming visitors.

There are counties in south America (Brazil of the top of my head) that recomend yellow fever/malaria shots prior to travel. This isn't new folks. Yellow fever sucks. sample pagehttps://www.argentina.gob.ar/salud/fiebreamarilla/zonas-de-riesgo/brasil …
