Ouch. Being exposed wrong is painful. But hysterically attacking the exposer appealing to own seniority only... Such a loser's lowest low John Ioannidis. Pathetic. Sometimes, proper peer-review is a protection against butthurt senior academics ruinning their remaining reputationhttps://twitter.com/CT_Bergstrom/status/1376080062131269634 …

In his latest paper about COVID infection fatality rates, John Ioannidis does not address the critiques from @GidMK, but instead engages in the most egregious gatekeeping that I have ever seen in a scientific paper. pic.twitter.com/P08sFIovD6

I’m seeing these Sudha Lakshmi and Phil Magness types just crowing and replying all over and it’s just so stupid.

Yes. Looks stupid. Adorable dedication though =) It's more interesting to see how react those who were so loud and vocal for the civil discussion shielding Ioannidis. I will share some of this now. It's beautiful

Of the 37 pages preceding Appendix 1: 10 pages references 11 pages tables 5 pages title/intro 8 pages text (of which 4 actually address our paper)

Also worth noting I have ~literally~ never demanded a study be retracted, and Professor Ioannidis' paper does not actually mention my critiques of his work at all aside from Appendix 1

Oh yeah, that's a curious detail! Paper: "I'm reviewing 6 meta papers here discussing there advantages and shortcomings. Tl;dr: mine is the best one" Appendix 1: "And by the way, the author of one of those 6 papers is an unrecognizable figure in huge glasses and with a cat"

Phil, certainly I expect that this was in relation to Ioannidis’ studies but the study you note i your tweet absolutely should be retracted because it is so flawed as to be useless. This isn’t a game though you’d prefer it to be.
