In the USA the disabled get tossed into the gutter unless they win the Social Security "lottery" - which may take years. Death is final. Lockdowns would have to be pretty bad to compare.

What we do know is that whatever harms there are, the earlier and more effective the restrictions are, the shorter and less harmful they will be.

The obvious answer here is that while inconvenient, lockdowns and masking have all but eliminated colds and flu throughout the peak season. I hope we learn from that.

In any case, the fact that
#lockdowns are harmful is exactly the reason why they should be used in the best possible way when "other measures" are not effective or not feasible!

#covid19 kills people and lockdowns kill people. It’s like chemotherapy - with a race to see which lets the body survive.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Agree. Not a criticism of
@GidMK article but when thinking about the impact of acts/omissions it is also crucial that governments use time bought by lockdowns wisely, unlike UK (England and Wales in particular)https://twitter.com/afromedwoman/status/1374711765733314566?s=20 …

A light article that doesn't go into the differences in the lockdowns and the variance in both compliance and support (that last is huge, to me). They also don't address the erosion of trust, which long term may be the biggest problem.
