This seems to ignore just how widespread vaccinations will be among U.S. adults by this summer, though. That would seem to really blunt the transmission risk that is the biggest difference between unvaccinated kids and the vaccinated grandma of the Atlantic article.

Did you read the article? Because I directly address that. With data.

Great? I think it misses the big picture. Depriving children of their childhood just in case something might happen to them is irresponsible. Article is based on hypotheticals and assumptions it cannot back up.

It’s chock full of data. And I don’t know about you, but taking my kids to the beach or hiking in a national park and then picnicking with their vaccinated grandparents is hardly depriving them of their childhood. What exactly is your definition of a good childhood?

This is really useful. Are there any ideas here that aren't really supported by data?

Great article. If this English study is correct we are looking into the worst part of the pandemic this fall and winter when millions of children will develop long covid because of the removal of restrictions and the rampant spread of B177 and P1.https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/mar/02/long-covid-uk-children-date-cause-concern-scientists-say …

“B117” of course

Yes great advice & exactly my plan! Except for us it’s more than just Summer. Next month is Zion national park. After that we’re hitting Great Basin National Park. Yellowstone in summer. Beach last week. Death Valley last Fall. All distanced, outdoors, soon all adults vaxxed.
-
We’re hoping to hit Zion this summer too!
