A year ago Vinay wrote an oped accusing me of "silencing" an endowed chair at Stanford—as he did the cable news circuit. After a year of receiving death threats, I'm genuinely curious who these ID docs and epi experts are who unwilling to even risk being called assholes.https://twitter.com/VPrasadMDMPH/status/1372992248577597442 …

Cannot abide the lazy equation of criticism as ‘silencing’. Yet to see an example where such a claim isn’t nakedly partisan and in reality means ‘I agree with person x so how dare person y take issue with them?’

Here’s a classic example: group puts out a report, which happened to contain some rank antivax nonsense. They are criticised for the report on that basis. According to a spokesman for said group, they are being ‘silenced’ Aren’t they just being debated?https://twitter.com/profnfenton/status/1374173611309867012?s=21 …

Poor Ioannadis can barely appear on Fox News before millions and millions of viewers. Vinay is confusing widespread legitimate criticism with "silencing". Note: I have no idea what exactly Vinay is arguing since he blocked me. I'm imputing from other comments.
