I was disappointed with various aspects of both the GBD and JSM, as I wrote at the time. I haven't signed either one, but I will say that of the two the GBD reads like a political statement, is largely unreferenced, and contains many fairly trivial inaccuracies - in contrast, while you might disagree with the JSM, the statements of fact are at least referenced!

I also find the context bizarre. I honestly can't think of another example of public health people signing a declaration funded by an entity representing the tobacco, alcohol, fossil fuel, and other interests
