Does this mean we should be vaccinating all children now? Of course not! Clinical trials are ongoing But dismissing the idea out of hand is absurd
Show me the data on children, especially the long term one.
Currently being generated. Not saying all children should be vaccinated ~now~, but there's every likelihood that vaccines will be safe/effective for children whereas COVID-19 has known harms
My biggest frustration about vaccinating children is that, in all actuality from a US perspective, it means fewer vaccines that could be used for highly-vulnerable people in LMICs. Of course with endless vaccine supply I’d be all for vaccinating children.
I think this is also a niche concern that will have 0 impact on US policy, mind you. Enough US parents are very anxious about their kids getting Covid at school that we’ll get pediatric vaccines approved and into arms quickly.
False. As usual...assertions based on zero science. The risk of covid is in the magnitude of zero for children. So we need to be less than zero risk? How does that work?
Because very rarely is no where near never. The vaccines are extremely safe. COVID is not.
Indian regulator approved COVAXIN for children 12+. USA may give EUA in April and kids here can start getting vaxed. COVAXIN Phase 3 trials on 5-11 yo in India about to wrap up. This is so exciting - things are happening fast!
Going to be extremely tough to get risk of death to children from vaccine up to 1 in 44000, which seems like the approx rate for COVID-19 (it’s 1 in 11k cases). We’ll see what the trials say!
