Not even bothering to look hard at the data set plus spending so many words attacking other work inaccurately puts "smart" into question.
Maybe "smart" if the goal was to gain notoriety w/ the covid skeptic crowd rather than contribute anything useful.
Were they even asking the right research question? Shutdowns are more likely to reduce morbidity and mortality at a community level by reducing spread. A person who did not stay home could bring home an infection to one who did, however.
