I understand having philosophical disagreements with government interventions, but the point is that none of this was ever actually about how many people died or suffered, and that is being thrown into stark relief now that vaccines are out

I used to try to debate those Covid policy skeptics in good faith until I realized a bunch of them were simply ideologically opposed to virtually *any* policy to modify human behavior, and believed, despite massive contrary evidence, that no such policies could have an impact.

I'm sure if I check the signatories it will contain the usual mix: known contrarians, people with PhDs in unrelated fields, students, three Nobel laureates who went off the rails years ago, techbros and people who once worked in a lab.
