Super lucky that the "winter" COVID-19 wave coincided perfectly with the lockdown, and not at all with the average temperature or, you know, winterhttps://twitter.com/MLevitt_NP2013/status/1367888648197218304 …

The graph looks ~nothing~ like the usual seasonal pattern of mortality. Not even a tiny bit. It looks very vaguely like a seasonal graph of influenza CASES, but to say it looks like a normal winter is just absurd ignorance of basic facts

Winter was unusually late in 2020.

Not really sure that we even have winter anymore. A few days of snow in February and that’s it

Coronaviruses are seasonal. Why would this one be different (esp. once endemic). I’ve seen estimate of ‘winter’ adding a bit to the R0, ‘Lockdown’ reducing it . Many factors affect both these. I get the politics Of scapegoating winter, but why present it as totally non seasonal?

So what seasons do you suggest covid follows in the Southern hemisphere? Same curves, inverse seasons and wait, it seems summer and winter in both.pic.twitter.com/GCG6RFklBR
