That;s great until you get one positive test somewhere and they lock down a state because that's what maniacal tyrants do. Don't you think @jacindaardern over reacted in Auckland, or would you be happy with a never ending game of whac-a-mole? #Casedemic #WintersComing

I don't follow NZ news that closely, but I do know that people in NSW where I'm from are very supportive of the strategy that has kept us safe and has worked impressively well

I hope you're saying the same when winter comes. The UK has had 2 winters of this to your 2 summers. Although I suspect the illness of the UK, coupled with the distinct lack of sunshine plays a significant part in high death rates, no matter what they are categorised as #Casedmic

Uh, it's been 12 months. We've had exactly the same number of winters and summers as anywhere in the world

Well, it's late and I am tired but, unless I am completely wrong, the UK has been through winter 2019/20 and winter 2020/21 with Covid-19, whereas OZ has been through summer 2019/20 and summer 2020/21.

Yep, completely wrong! UK started restrictions in spring 2020, Australia started in autumn 2020. Like I said, there's the same number of winters/summers in 12 months no matter where you go

I am not talking about restrictions, I am talking about when the virus which was first reported to the @WHO which was in December 2019, just at the start of your summer.

And the first recorded death in the UK was in March. Potentially you've got a month of winter in there, there was obviously some circulation in Feb, but even so it's hardly "living through 2 winters"

The 1st reported case was in China in December 2019, the start of your summer (1). You are now moving out of your 2nd summer into Autumn, ergo Oz will have been through two winters with this virus circulating. Hopefully you won't see a seasonal increase in the winter like we did.

Ah yes, the earliest COVID-19 cases in China, clearly incredibly pertinent to whether the UK has had 2 winters of COVID-19 I mean, it's a terrible argument anyway, but it's also just wrong

Given that Victoria entirely controlled their outbreak during winter, I am cautiously optimistic that we can continue to maintain our excellent strategy into the future
