The Australian defamation law is terrible. I have had conversations that I cannot repeat because the burden of proof would be on me to prove that something was said, rather than on the other person to prove that I'm lying.

And recording conversations is illegal. There was a person who accidentally recorded himself on someone's voicemail while committing murder. He was able to get the recording thrown out because he hadn't consented to being recorded.
