Just to update, I'm not sure calling for retraction was justified. It does not look good at all, but the authors have updated the paper with this information now

Seems to be a common theme of biasing results to the null by lumping in ages/periods that aren't relevant to the question & ignoring the lag in Swedish mortality data.
