A colleague at my uni has taken to contacting editors about fraudulent Western blots - usually the control band is cut/paste from another blot. Often there is no plausible excuse. The largest response from a journal thus far has been allowing a substituted Western blot. 1/

These are easy to spot, and common. It's truly unbelievable. But the response of scientific journals to fraud in their print is also impoverished to non-existent. 2/2
