The United States recently reached 500,000 COVID-19 deaths That means the POPULATION fatality rate (i.e. deaths/population) for the US is 0.15% With an estimated ~25% infection rate, the INFECTION fatality rate is ~.6%

I think IFR of 0.5-1% was widely estimated in the early months by credible people like
@AdamJKucharski based on China and Italy numbers. Its good to see that these early estimates were good, tho of course sad to see it lead to many deaths.
If all US is infected, 2m deaths

Also Althaus had made the same estimate. And Mizumoto.

Aren't there also rumors, that these numbers are too low and that the excess mortality was already over 600000 by end of 2020? And in Germany excess mortality still underestimes Covid deaths, cause lockdowns saved to many lives (mainly flu, but also traffic, suicides, ..)
