I mean, if the president tells people for the better part of a year that COVID-19 isn't a problem, should you be surprised when people don't care about preventing it?

Not sure what the explanation will be when that same trend repeats itself here. Unlike US counterparts I've seen very few commentators that have done a head to head comparison here explicitly state they would choose *any* vacc if offered before offering their analysis

Currently the rate of vaccine hesitancy in surveys is much lower in Australia than the US, although we will have to wait and see how that plays out
