Ah yes, vaccine hesitancy in the US: clearly the fault of scientists being honest and not the massive COVID-19 denial/anti-vaccine political movement that held sway for much of 2020https://twitter.com/DLeonhardt/status/1362767520764203011 …

Not sure what the explanation will be when that same trend repeats itself here. Unlike US counterparts I've seen very few commentators that have done a head to head comparison here explicitly state they would choose *any* vacc if offered before offering their analysis

Currently the rate of vaccine hesitancy in surveys is much lower in Australia than the US, although we will have to wait and see how that plays out

I gently try to persuade my friends to get vaccinated but they're adopting a wait and see attitude. They're not part of the anti-vax crowd and I think the main problem is that we've been in lockdown for so long. A generalised avoidance behavioural paralysis?

Ok but at the same time we’ve annihilated flu and RSV so it’s not accurate to pretend vast majority (or even 45%) of Americans aren’t doing anything to prevent Covid. Most Americans are masking, distancing, avoiding indoor spaces, taking other precautions, even Trumpers.

Or the people who claimed COVID is about as lethal as seasonal flu to “working age people”.
